The 4th annual Craig Kleiman 5k Run/Walk takes place on Labor Day morning on the beautiful streets of North Bexley, beginning and ending near Jeffrey Mansion. In addition, a kids' run, for children ages 8 and under, will take place 15 minutes before the 5k. For those unable to participate in person, a virtual option will be available from September 1st through 4th.
The run/walks honors the life of our son and lifelong Bexley resident Craig Kleiman and supports local programs for children with autism and other special needs. Craig, a 1998 graduate of Bexley High School, graduated from Ohio Dominican University and had a talent for working with special needs children and worked for many years as a classroom teacher's assistant in special needs programs. Craig's other passion was competitive running, and he ran competitively in 5ks, 10ks and half-marathons.
Proceeds from the race benefit local charitable causes meaningful to Craig: the Central Ohio chapter of Autism Speaks, to support is autism advocacy efforts with local service providers and treatment networks, the unique summer camp inclusion program at the Columbus JCC for children with special needs and special needs communication initiatives at Bexley Recreation and Parks.
