Rhodes Selner is a seven-year-old second grader at Cassingham Elementary who started playing piano when he was five.

Sometimes magic just happens. Take Celeste Williams, the artist who creates the fairy garden sculptures at Schneider Park. Before COVID, she had never owned a chain saw. Since then, she has used them, chop saws, jigsaws and Dremels, to create a handful of pieces for the fairy garden each year.

Brooke Parr took the Buzz by storm when she asked for input on a Bexley-based illustration featuring landmarks and images of significance to the community. Dozens of comments later, she refined her artwork, which is now available for sale at Urban Emporium on t-shirts and canvas bags. We had to know more.

We renamed our studio to Beyond Arts & Music because we wanted to go beyond our music classes and lessons to bring a thriving and diverse arts community to the whole 43209 community and beyond.

Eight hundred and seventy five years. That's how much collective music experience Ray Pauken's band has. Twenty-two years ago, Ray asked Johnson's if his band could play. Their compensation? Ice cream. The original band consisted of four people and has grown to 14 -- three are more than 90 years old, others are past 80, and the youngest is 58.

Natalia Fedner, Bexley’s own couture designer whose signature Stretch Metal avant garde garments and jewelry have graced the likes of Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Doja Cat, Janet Jackson, Charlize Theron, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and more, says “every accomplishment still feels like a happy surprise.”

Rebecca Rhinehart, Bexley’s Theatre Arts Director, and William Bowman, District Assistant Theatre Director, have put on many incredible shows. The middle school musical, Newsies Jr., just wrapped up and rehearsals for The Music Man (opening April 13) and Circus Olympus (opening May 18) are now underway.

Henry Ferrel, a 2nd grader at Cassingham Elementary, has been playing piano since he was 6. Logan Shaw is a 7 year old 2nd grader at Montrose Elementary and has been playing piano for about a year.

Sam Gravelle, an 11-year-old 6th grader, started playing piano with Christa Murphy in June 2020 over Zoom. He wanted to play because he had a piano in his house and some of his friends were also playing.
