This Summer is All About Reading Together!
There are so many ways we read together. Whether it’s with a child and beloved copy of Peter Rabbit on our lap, a Mercy Watson read-a-loud before bed, or enjoying The Very Hungry Caterpillar complete with hand motions during story time, it’s always a good time to share in the joys of reading.
At the library we know reading is an activity that is best shared with others, especially when it comes to our young readers. It’s the reason why I’m especially excited that this year’s Summer Community Read theme is “Read Together!” And we are gearing up for a season chock-full of just that.
In our Youth Services department, we all have our favorite parts of Summer Community Read. Marilyn loves to help children discover new books to love. Amanda is always excited to play retro video games. Kelly can’t wait to welcome Elephant & Piggy and Michelle is looking forward to the first ever LIVE Pajama Dance Party! As for me… my favorite thing about Summer Community Read is sharing my new ukulele tunes with everyone.
Whether you are hoping to cut loose at the kick-off party on June 2, crossing your fingers to win fabulous raffle prizes, or looking to beat your reading record from last year, we look forward to you joining us as we READ TOGETHER this summer!
