May 2023 Pet of the Month: Meet Max & Dash

We got Max in October of 2020. Our family dog of 12 years passed away, and we were desperate for another dog. I found Max online, and we traveled 5 hours to Indiana to get him. My son Jake picked him out because he had the most energy. Max loves to play, and he especially loves to run. I run 5 miles with him three days a week. We go at 5:30 am during the week, and he wears a light-up vest. He can keep a fast pace, and he always has to be in the lead. If there is someone in front of us, he makes sure to pass them. He even did the Jack Roth 5k in June, and he was the top dog finisher!

He also went on his first beach vacation last summer, and he loves the water. He kept trying to eat the waves. We loved Max so much and he had so much energy that we decided he needed a playmate. Jake also wanted another dog, so we surprised him with Dash for his 10th birthday which was also about the same time as Max's 2nd birthday, so he was a present for both of them.

My husband Jason found Dash, and he is from near Ashland, Ohio. We told Jake we were running errands, and after we left the outlets, we kept driving north. He had no idea where we were going. He picked out Dash because he kept running. Jason and I are both track coaches at Bexley, so we thought the name Dash fit him well. Dash loves to chase Max around, and he is the best snuggler; however, he definitely does not understand personal space. Both dogs absolutely love their big brother Jake and playing tug of war with their toys. They are really funny and resemble each other so much that it is hard to believe that they are not actually related.
