There is something special about the crisp days of early fall in Bexley: leaves changing colors on every street, cool nights by a bonfire with friends, and community events like Harvest Fest and trick-or-treating. There is no shortage of beautiful surroundings or fun activities to help you embrace this cozy time of year. Invite the season into your home by creating a classic, autumnal space for your family and friends to enjoy.

Introduce richer colors. Shades of marigold, camel, burgundy, and olive will add warmth to your space, with a nod to the changing colors outside. You can incorporate these with throw pillows, blankets, tabletop linens, or that moody landscape art you have got stored in the basement.

Layer in heavier textures and patterns. Luxurious wool, chunky fur, velvet, and plaid instantly add warmth to the home. These touches will look beautiful and feel comfortable, bringing more hygge into your daily life.

Incorporate elements of nature. Trim a few branches from the backyard and place them in an oversized vase as a centerpiece on the dining table or focal point on a console table, in lieu of fresh flowers. Place seasonal vegetables and fruit in a bowl on the kitchen counter, across the mantel, centered on the dining table, or along the front porch walkway.

Appeal to the senses with light and scent. Dim the overhead lights and enjoy the glow of tapered candles on the dining table or new scented candles in the living room. They will add another dimension to the space and envelop you in the season.

As you refresh your home, simplify the process by making small changes in stages and adding on decor as the season progresses. This allows for a smooth transition, and keeping seasonal touches subtle offers a more classic and refined look.
