Easy Day Trips for Adventurous Kids

If you want a vacation close to home, here are some fun and easy last-minute day trips that everyone will love!

Hocking Hills (1 hr) has beautiful rock formations making it the third most Instagrammed state park. The accessible Ash Cave is a great and short trail. In the afternoon, you can go to Treehouse Treats and Treasures for ice cream, books, and souvenirs. Next door is Adventure Golf, a fun and quick activity for the whole family. Don’t forget to stop by Hocking Hills Canopy Tours on your way out!

Newark (45 mins) is a short drive for never-ending fun! On your way in, stop by Rolls by the Pound for delicious baked goods. Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve has a variety of trails. For a hands-on experience, head to The Works in the heart of the city. Then for lunch, head to Elliot’s Wood Fired Kitchen for classic (and delicious) pizza!

Dayton (1hr 15 mins) is farthest away from Bexley, but the drive is worth it. There’s so much to do! You could go to the Dayton Art Institute for hands-on activities in the children’s area, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, or the Air Force Museum (free). If you love to be outside, visit Aullwood Audubon for huge, amazing troll sculptures. Young’s Jersey Dairy is the perfect pit stop for ice cream and comfort food.
