The Pitch of The Blu Note

Nested on the crust of Bexley, Ohio lays a hidden gem for jazz lovers in central Ohio. The Blu Note was established in January 2020 by owners Derrik Pannell (Columbus, Ohio) and Tiffini Pannell (Cleveland, Ohio). The owners pull inspiration from their parents who are entrepreneurs and jazz players. In addition, both have a strong desire to bring the jazz culture to the community. Derrik and Tiffini chose the location based on key factors, one being the diversity in the neighborhood.

Derrik knew at any early age he wanted to own a business. As a young man he managed a candy business at school while also operating a lawn care business in his local community at the age of 14. Pannell lawn care and maintenance is where he established his entrepreneurial spirit where he staffed and managed 18 employees. Now Derrik uses his gift to be a beacon for jazz lovers with the Blu Note. Tiffini, being a teacher, enjoys supporting the Blu Note and adapts her skills as an educator to aid in running the business. Her leadership skills are showcased as she runs the bar while managing bartenders and patrons' requests.

The Blu Note offers jazz lovers a wide variety of local and regional bands that are dedicated solely to playing jazz music. But wait, there is more! The menu is second to none and even offers jazz-themed dishes, from the Cleveland style polish boy to the Memphis pulled pork, Kansas City ribs and New Orleans shrimp and grits. The menu has something for everyone which is all cooked by local chef Daniel Pannell, who will be making his mark in the culinary scene in years to come.
